This page describes a set of tests included in version 1.04 of the GEDCOM file assess.ged (download - view). Details change between versions.

Area Summary

People with the surname "Date Invalid" have birth events with GEDCOM dates that are invalid. The date is not valid based on the interpretation of the GEDCOM specification. The target application may reject the date, or it may treat the date as a date phrase.

See other date-related comments on the Date Valid test area help page.

  1. If a target application imports "INT 1911" and converts it to its internal date format with the phrase empty, set the test result to "Supported".
  2. If a target application imports "INT 1911" and converts it to its internal date format but using an "about", "estimated", or "calculated" modifier, set the test result to "Supported (w/comment)" and describe the outcome in the comment.
  3. For any other outcome, set the test result to "Rejected (non-standard)" and describe the outcome in the comment.
